Fritz!Box 7050 as repeater with sipgate VoIP

This blog post is way off-topic but a reminder for myself how to create a functional setup.

The general setup:
Router <=LAN=> FritzBox WLAN 3050 <=Repeater WLAN=> FritzBox  Fon 7050 (via WDS)

The router distributes IP adresses in 192.168.y.x space but has no WLAN. Fritz!Box WLAN 3050 has fixed IP 192.168.y.254 and is used as switch (which means: it is connected to the router via Port LAN A, not via the DSL/WAN port), WLAN access point and as WDS Base for the Repeater. Fritz!Box Fon 7050 has fixed IP 192.168.y.252 and is set up in repeater mode. Since in this specific setup the router itself additionally has VoIP functionality, Port 5060 cannot be used directly by the FritzBox Fon 7050, but that does not seem to be a problem, since the router maps the FritzBox's port 5060 to some other outbound port.

Configure the Fritz!Box Fon 7050 as you can find on www.sipgate.com but leave the STUN Server entry blank. If you set the STUN server you will end up being able to receive and make calls, but while the caller can hear you perfectly, you won't be able to hear the caller. Instead, forward the ports 7071 - 7081 in the router to the Fritz!Box Fon 7050 (in my case, to the IP 192.168.y.252). Actually, 10 ports is quite much, it seems that you need one port per simultaneous calling, so you can adjust this to2 ports, since the 7050 is able to manage only 2 simultaneous VoIP calls.

Configure your phone/fax system according to the manual of the FritzBox. To check the setup, you can call sipgate's control number 10000 or the echo number 10005 (for free). You can access the sipgate voicemail via 50000. These three numbers only work if you have disabled automatic regional code dialing in your settings on www.sipgate.com.

BTW: For faster dialing always end the phone number with a "#" (signal for any FritzBox that the number ended).
